Kitesurfing Mallorca — Best Spots & Wind Guide 2026
Mallorca's been on our radar since 2003 — riders consistently tell us it's one of Europe's most reliable kite destinations. Warm water, steady wind, and spots for every level make it worth the trip. Here's exactly where to go and what to pack.
Mallorca serves 12–20 knots April through October, peaking at 18–24 knots in spring and autumn. Water temps hover 18–24°C, so a light wetsuit does the job. Grab a Duotone kite sized for your home conditions and you'll adapt instantly to whatever the island offers.
01 — Best monthsWhen to Go: Seasonal Wind Patterns
Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) are your sweet spots. We see the Tramontana and Mistral systems deliver consistent 16–24 knots, with reliable offshore set-ups in most bays.
Summer's lighter — expect 10–15 knots unless a thermal kicks in mid-afternoon. Winter can be choppy and unpredictable, but if you're chasing power, January–February sometimes dish out 20–28 knots. Most riders we ship gear to head out April or September.
02 — Zones by abilityThe Best Spots for Every Skill Level
Beginners: Head to Pollensa Bay (north coast). Shallow water, steady offshore winds, and a forgiving sandbar make it perfect for learning. You'll want a 9–12 m² kite here in typical 12–18 knot days.
Intermediate riders: Son Serra de Marina (northeast) offers stronger winds and room to explore. The bay's protected but the entrance gets lumpy — solid spot for wave practice. A 9 or 12 m² works depending on the swell.
Advanced: Cap de Formentor and the east coast spots (Arta, Porto Cristo) get properly powered in spring. Reef breaks, side-shore wind, and genuine swell. Bring your 7 or 9 m² here — wind picks up fast.

A 9 or 12 m² works for most conditions. If you weigh under 70 kg, start with 9 m²; over 80 kg, go 12 m². Mallorca's 12–20 knot baseline suits both sizes well.
Your home kite will work fine. Mallorca's wind window is similar to most European spots — 12–24 knots means your quiver translates directly. No need to buy new.
September and October. The Mistral and Tramontana are strongest then, consistently hitting 18–24 knots. April and May are solid too, but more variable.
Yes. It's shallow, monitored, and packed with other riders. Tell a mate where you're going and stick to daylight hours. The bay's forgiving if you mess up a trick.
