ION Amaze Element Women's Wetsuit 2026 — Review
The ION Amaze Element Women's 2/2 SS is built for riders who won't sacrifice mobility for warmth. We've watched this suit evolve since 2003, and the 2026 update finally nails the fit that women's watersports have been waiting for.
The ION Amaze Element Women's 2/2 SS is a spring-summer suit for 14–20°C water with women-specific panelling, improved seam-sealing, and a smooth back-zip slider. Pick this if you need freedom of movement without bulk—and you don't want to fuss with entry every session.
01 — Anatomy & CutThe Fit That Actually Works for Women
This isn't just a men's suit with narrower shoulders tacked on. ION recut the chest and waist panels for 2026, which means no more bunching at your ribs when you're paddling or turning hard. We've shipped hundreds of suits since 2003, and the complaints have always been the same: too much fabric in the wrong places.
The Amaze Element changes that. The back-zip slider glides smoothly—no more wrestling with a stiff entry. Arm panels sit where they should, so your shoulders don't feel locked. If you're between a 4/3 and a 2/2, grab the 2/2; the Amaze Element cuts generous.
02 — Seams & MaterialsAmaze Core Construction & Durability
The 2/2 mm thickness is perfect for spring and early summer in most of Europe. GBS (Glued and Blind Stitched) seams mean zero water creep where it counts—shoulders, underarms, chest. ION's flatlock stitching on the legs won't raise bumps that bug you all day.
Neoprene quality matters. The Amaze Element uses a softer, more flexible core than entry-level suits. That means less fatigue during long sessions and better heat retention without extra thickness. Real difference if you're out 3+ hours at a time.

Frequently asked
A 2/2 is thinner, more flexible, better for warm water (14–20°C). A 3/2 adds 1 mm to the core, keeping you warmer in 10–16°C. Pick 2/2 for spring and summer; 3/2 for autumn and mild winter.
Depends on your water. If you're in the Mediterranean or Atlantic near Southern Europe in December, maybe. But if water drops below 10°C, a 4/3 or 5/4 will save you. A 2/2 in cold water means shivering, cramping, and misery.
With care—rinse after every session, hang dry, no direct sun—expect 2–3 years of regular use. The GBS seams hold, but neoprene eventually loses stretch. We see riders get 4+ seasons if they baby the suit.
Back-zip (like the Amaze Element) is easier to get into and out of solo. Chest-zip offers a marginally warmer seal. If you're on the water 3+ times a week, back-zip saves your shoulders. For casual summer sessions, either works.
